Special Events and Short Courses

Sound Bath | Monthly on the final Friday | £20 | 5pm till 6.15pm & 7pm till 8.15pm |  2022 dates - always the final Friday but we are taking a break for the summer - no session in June / July / August. Next dates are Sept 30th, Oct 28th, Nov 25th, Dec 30th.

A gentle soundbathing journey with singing bowls, gongs, gentle drums, chimes and textural sounds to ease you into the deepest state of relaxation. There's nothing to do but lie comfortably and let it all wash over you. The session is composed live by Jo Gregor and Sue Szymanski.

Sue Szymanski is a professional and intuitive percussionist and practitioner, bringing many years of experience & sensitivity to deliver mindful, acoustic textural sound. Sue's understanding of "what is required right now" has roots in several traditions. She brings her experience of live playing as well as experience in mental health and wellbeing practice, counselling, journey work and deep explorations into human healing practices. Sue brings her amazing 40' hand made titanium gong to the sessions.

Jo Gregor, a classically trained musician and qualified multi disciplinary holistic practitioner, has been so influenced by the deeply meditative and restorative states of facilitated sound journeying, that she has been guided over recent years to craft several of her own healing instruments. She brings her hand made bowls, gongs and chimes to the sessions, as well as a carefully curated selection of Tibetan and crystal singing bowls.

Together we invite you to indulge in the ultimate in relaxation.

Please bring whatever you need to be warm and comfortable lying on the floor. We are keen that the session is accessible for everyone - chairs are available if you need to sit, and we can provide a comfy reclining lounger if need be - just let us know when you book. The space is wheelchair accessible.

It is strongly advised to book a place as the sessions (particularly the 7pm session) can become fully booked and numbers are capped, although you can just turn up. Bring a blanket / something to keep you warm, a pillow for your head and something squishy and comfortable to lie on (a yoga mat is likely to not be enough). A five week course to get you started playing this fabulous drum. You'll be learning in a small group and the course is for absolute beginners. Drums are provided if you need to borrow one (£50 returnable deposit please). It covers all the foundations - how to hold the stick/tipper and the drum, basic strokes, and foundation jig and reel rhythms. No musical knowledge needed. The course is taught by experienced percussionist and tutor Sue Szymanski (The Floozies, CBT, Bophouseblue) and was developed in 2014 in response to comments that many online tutorials can move things forward too quickly, and don't allow enough time for techniques to 'bed in'.
